In June 2020, we invested in the Kenyan healthcare provider Penda Health, currently offering primary care in Nairobi.

Middle- and lower-income Kenyan populations struggle to access high-quality and affordable health care, because of poor-quality public clinics and few profitable and scalable private clinic solutions.

Penda Health has been building a base of loyal patients by offering affordable and high quality healthcare. It currently has a network of 19 primary care medical centers for lower-and-middle income patients, which offer comprehensive outpatient services, including general and specialist consultations, lab services, pharmacy services, antenatal care, vaccinations etc. During the COVID-19 crisis, Penda has kicked off its blended healthcare model by rolling out telehealth services, as well as medicine delivery, to respond to emerging patient needs.

Penda has treated patients in hundreds of thousands of healthcare visits, of which 75% were from loyal patients.
